Our Beliefs

W believe that the Bible, the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and authoritative Word of God andwithout mistakes as originally written. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the only unfailing rule of faith and practice for the Christian life.

We believe that there is only one God, creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power.

We believe that Jesus was true God and true man, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. We believe He arose bodily from the dead, His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal, imminent return.

We believe that man was created by and for God; that by man's disobeying God, every person incurred spiritual death, which is separation from God, and physical death as a consequence; and that all people are sinners by nature and practice.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and during this age He indwells, guides, instructs and empowers those who believe for Godly living and service.

We believe that all people were created in the image of God but fell into sin and are therefore far from God. It is only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit that salvation and spiritual life can be obtained. We believe that the only way eternal life is received is by faith alone in Jesus Christ, that the shed blood of Jesus and His resurrection provide the grounds for justification and salvation.

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this present age.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

Pastor Rodney Standfield

Rodney Standfield was born in Jasper, Alabama where he was educated in the public schools and attended Walker College. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kennesaw State University. Pastor Standfield married his beautiful and anointed wife Telayo L. Hill Standfield in August 1996.

In 2005, God begin to press upon Pastor Standfield’s heart to return home and start a ministry that would seek out the hurting, unsaved, and those who had given up on church. Pastor Standfield begin holding vision casting meeting in homes and restaurants in the Birmingham area sharing with all who would come and hear the vision God had given him for a new ministry. Many people were attracted by the desire to be part of something that was not your typical church.

Pastor Rodney & First Lady Telayo have maintained an approach to ministry that is uncompromising. They believe that the Word of God taught in a simple and applicable fashion can transform a person’s life. They stand by the belief that the “Word of God is not just a Word to be read, but a life to be lived” and they believe the church must produce disciples as the Great Commission mandates. Pastor Standfield’s vision is uncompromisingly clear, with one central principle… to build and develop a kingdom of empowered people whose lives have been transformed into the image and likeness of Christ.

First Lady Telayo Standfield

First Lady Telayo L. Hill Standfield more affectionately known to family and friends as “Shone” was reared in the fear of God. In January 1984, during a revival conducted by Minister Eugene Nixon at New Bethel Church of God in Christ, she gave her heart to Jesus at the young age of thirteen and has worked in the church all of her life. At an early age she was known throughout the Jasper District for singing “Trouble In My Way”, she is an anointed tambourine player, and loves praise and worship. She has always been sold out for Christ and believes all things should be done with and in a spirit of excellence.

Telayo Standfield was raised in Jasper, Alabama. She attended Walker High School and holds dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in Psychology and Computer Science with a minor in Biology from Kennesaw State University. She is a founding member of Phi Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

First Lady Telayo is known for her truthfulness, kindness, confidentiality, hospitality and strength. Strong dedication and commitment are seen in her tireless labor to assist her husband, Pastor Rodney Standfield, in the leadership of Love Fellowship Christian Center (LFCC) in Adamsville, Alabama. First Lady Telayo has served faithfully with her husband in leading the people of LFCC since it’s inception: from singing and teaching to finance and administration, the task was never too great or small. Multitasking is probably the most adequate word to describe First Lady Telayo. Divinely called to wear a multitude of hats for God, she does so with humbleness, grace, compassion, steadfastness, endurance, generosity, and love.

Our History

In 2005, God begin to press upon Pastor Standfield’s heart to return home and start a ministry that would seek out the hurting, unsaved, and those who had given up on church. Pastor Standfield begin holding vision casting meeting in homes and restaurants in the Birmingham area sharing with all who would come and hear the vision God had given him for a new ministry. Many people were attracted by the desire to be part of something that was not your typical church.

In 2006, Pastor & First Lady Standfield planted Love Fellowship Christian Center (LFCC) in Birmingham, Alabama. On March 5, 2006, LFCC officially held its very first worship service at 1589 Tomahawk Road with about forty people in attendance. Love Fellowship continued to grow and soon it was necessary to seek a larger facilities to better accommodate our goal of providing quality ministry experiences to the hundreds of people in our fellowship while reaching out to those seeking a church home. In the summer of 2009 God blessed us to move into our current facility.

Today, God continues to richly bless our efforts. We are experiencing phenomenal growth as Pastor Rodney and the ministerial staff continues to preach and teach the word of God. The church currently offers a variety of ministries that touch the lives of people not only locally, but nationally and around the world.

Numerical growth has never been the main objective of our church; but the spiritual growth of each individual and family attending Love Fellowship is paramount to our mission. We don’t look at the success of our church as a testament to our own craftiness or strategic planning expertise but we give all glory to God. While God certainly anoints effective, godly leaders and can choose to bless the work of our hands, we humbly give all the credit, the honor, and the glory to Him who reminds us through His Word that it’s “not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit”. At Love Fellowship we say, every thing good that happens… “God Did It.”

What is most important to us?

1 We value the Word of God: We accept the Word of God as our final authority in all matters of faith, we practice and strive to preach, teach, and live in the likeness of Christ.

2 We value every Believer as a minister of Jesus Christ: We believe every Christian is called to service therefore we encourage every member to discover God’s purpose for their life and discover what they can do to help others.

3 We value Family: In our society, families face challenges that threaten to overwhelm them. LFCC is therefore committed to create a "family-friendly" environment, by having ministries and activities that enhance and strengthen family relationships.

4 We value the power of Prayer and Fasting: We believe they are essential for ministry, direction, protection and spiritual growth.

5 We value spiritual Growth: We are faithful in transforming believers both new and old into followers of Christ. We want every learner to become more and more like Jesus in his or her everyday life.

6 We value Worship: Worship is the response to God's worth. He alone is worthy of worship and he commands all creation to worship Him alone.

7 We value Fellowship and Fun: We are to love each other, live in unity and in forgiveness. Each week following worship service we gather for beverages, snacks and conversation. This informal fellowship time is a great way to get to know new people and build lasting friendships. With all the stresses of life, we want LFCC to be a place of enjoyment for everyone.

8 We value Children and Youth: We believe they have a special place in the heart of God and the church; and we invest time, money, and energy in our youth ministry.

9 We value Singles: We believe that the body of Christ consists of many members, which are each equally necessary to the health and function of the whole body.

10 We value Mentoring: We believe the first duty of mature followers of Christ is to nurture new believers. We believe people of all ages can learn, and help one another.

11 We value Men: We encourage every man to be their best for God, their family, and community.

12 We value Excellence: We believe that excellence honors God and inspires people. We expect high quality in every ministry and we are committed to give our very best in everything we do.

14 We value Outreach: We are devoted to impacting our community and the world through the gospel, personal relationships, services projects and fellowship events.

15 We value Christian Stewardship: We recognize that every believer is called by God to be faithful in honoring the Lord with our time, our talent, and our treasure.

Our Mission
To win non-Christians to the body of Christ, to train and equip church members to become disciples for Christ.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...
Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

Our Purpose
To raise a nation of followers of Christ that go throughout the earth with the intended purpose of making other followers of Christ.

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:2 KJV

Our Vision
To help people discover their God given purpose, to equip and release them into the earth to fulfill their assignment.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Jeremiah 1:5 KJV

Our Cause
To change people’s mindset from “I” to “Others”… from looking to be served to serving others.

For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:28 NLT

Our greatest desire...

...is for people to come to know God personally. The simple truth is that there is a God who created you and loves you very much. (Genesis 1:1) He gave us life and deserves our gratitude and love.

We, however, have chosen to disobey Him and sin against Him; all of us have done wrong and failed to do what is right. (Romans 3:23) We may not be more sinful than our neighbor, or we may be far worse than anyone we know, it does not matter. Either way, we are guilty before God. (1 John 1:8)

God is perfect, completely good, always right and fair. He cannot tolerate sin. He cannot simply overlook the fact that we have chosen to disobey Him. The Bible says "the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) This means that the fair payment for our rebellion against God is death. It is the punishment that we deserve.

Jesus, the one and only Son of God, came to earth and lived a perfect sinless life. He was crucified even though He was completely innocent. He received the punishment that we deserved. He was the perfect sacrifice, He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours. (Romans 5:8)

Jesus did not, however, remain dead. After three days, He rose from the grave and later ascended into heaven. He will return for all those who are trusting in Him as their Savior.

Jesus died for you. You can be saved by asking Him for forgiveness from your sins. If you are willing to repent of your sin, He is waiting to forgive you. It doesn't matter what you have done in the past, if you cry out to Jesus for forgiveness, He will not reject you. You need to look at your life, admit that you are a sinner, genuinely desire to turn your back on that sin, and ask Him to forgive you. If you do this, He promises to forgive you.

True Christianity is not about attending a particular church, or how your parents raised you, or what country you were born in. Being a Christian means that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that He is your Savior. It's not good enough that your priest, pastor, mother, or aunt knows Jesus, you must know Him for yourself. They cannot believe in Him for you, you must believe for yourself.

Jesus is everywhere all the time. He can hear you now if you ask Him for forgiveness. Please turn your life over to Him now. Time slips by so quickly, don't miss this opportunity. If you want to pray and ask Jesus to be your Savior, you can say a prayer something like this:

"Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you. I know the truth is that I have sinned by my own choice, and I am the one responsible for it. I know that I have earned punishment from You, and that the fair punishment would be death. Jesus, I believe that You died in my place. Forgive me for my sin. I cannot cover or take my sin away, I am relying totally and only on You. You are the only one who can save me. I reject my sin, I turn away from it. Come into my life, take away my sin, and show me how to live my life in a way that is right and pleasing to You."

If you have prayed this, YOU ARE SAVED! You are now completely forgiven, a new creation, innocent in the eyes of God. Welcome to the family of God!

It is important for you to start to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Just like any relationship, you need to spend time with someone if you want to know them well. The way to know God is through the Bible and prayer. It's also important to find a church you can attend where they teach the Bible. This will allow you to talk with a pastor who will help explain questions you might have, and it will give you a chance to spend time with other Christians who can encourage you.
